Just do it…

I thought I’d share with you two of my (current) favorite marketing quotes.

I fell in love with this first quote, from Jay Conrad Levinson, author of the Guerrilla Marketing series, when I followed C J Hayden’s Get Clients Now!(TM) program last spring. Now that I’m going through the program a second time to be a licensed facilitator, I read the quote again and recalled why I love it — it resonates with me now more than ever.

I hate to admit this, but mediocre marketing with commitment works better than brilliant marketing without commitment.

I’m reminded to stop being overwhelmed by trying to create “brilliant marketing” and self-promotion strategies, and to just keep doing what I know and love. My coach, Mary Bast, recently told me to “trust the process” — that is, don’t try to rush success. Instead trust that what I’m already doing, as long as I KEEP doing it with the passion that drives me, will produce positive results. I need to repeat these words — often.

My second favorite quote I found in a book I’m currently reading by Rick Crandall, Ph.D called Marketing Your Services — For People Who Hate to Sell. This is such a fun book to read, I highly recommend it. The quote is from Will Rogers (most of his quotes are truly quotable!!)

Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

I’m visual, so this quote makes me smile — it conjures such a clear picture in my mind.

The point? It depends where you are in your business right now. Personally, I’m reminded that marketing is about loving what I do, sincerely connecting with people, and plugging away at it consistently.
