Questions About Passion
February 4th, 2007 by Cristina Favreau
You’ll often hear me refer to myself as a “passionate entrepreneur.” I could never put my finger on why I choose to use the word “passionate.” That is, until I read “What Are You Passionate About” on Megan Potter’s blog, Flaming Renaissance. In her search to define her own passions, she’s been searching for the right questions to ask herself in order to come up with the answer. This is how she put it:
I was determined that all I had to do was stumble on the right questions and my answer would suddenly come to me.
If you’re on the same journey, here are the questions she came up with that finally helped her — and I thought they may help you too:
What do you love learning about? What topics are you sure to at least pick up a book on if you see it? What do you always want to know more about?
If ever there were questions you could ask yourself to discover your true passion, I would agree with Megan’s. These questions are right on (however, I wouldn’t suggest thinking so hard about trying to come up with a list of what you’re passionate about — sort of defeats the purpose, no?). I believe that either you know or you don’t know what you’re passionate about…
But while we’re on the subject, here are some other things I’m especially passionate about:
- The Enneagram personality typing system. I CAN’T get enough of the Enneagram. I’ve been studying it for over 4 years now, and I still can’t resist buying everything I see on the subject.
- Innovative (out-of-the-box) ways of selling and marketing a service-based business and ways of sharing it with entrepreneurs as freely as possible (I’m not kidding)
- People, and how to better read, understand and communicate with them (thus explaining the Enneagram obsession).
- Notebooks. I DON’T consider myself a good writer, and I don’t journal on a regular basis, but for some reason, I can’t help buying beautiful notebooks and writing on the smooth, crisp pages. (If someone can explain this one, please share).
So share with us — what’s YOUR passion?
