I just found this most clever telecom service — Jott.com — and it’s free (for now)!!!

All you do is, from your cell phone, call a toll-free number and leave a voice message for yourself, someone else, or to a group of people. The message is then transcribed and sent to your/their Inbox. You can even configure certain contacts to receive the transcription as a text message.

I think the COOLEST feature is to post on your blog… That’s right!! If you’re inspired by something while you’re away from your PC or laptop, call in your Jott message; it’ll get transcribed and posted to your blog.

I tend to be forgetful. I also tend to come up with great ideas at the most inopportune moments — like in the car, while I’m shopping or on vacation. Once my cell is reactivated, I’m signing up.

There are so many ways to use this for a service-based business; I see it being most practical for managing a virtual team.

If anyone is using this service already, please share with us your experience.

    Hello!

The service is quite useful however… in my own experience with it, I’ve found it to be highly inaccurate even when speaking very slowly and clearly. I think they are doing things to change this but it was so inaccurate, I would not have remembered what I said well enough to piece the puzzle together. :)

That is my experience with it but perhaps it is getting better with time :)

I read somewhere that you can access the original audio to listen to again for clarification. Although, that’s not what the service is about, it could help with inaccuracies.

Thanks for the inside info, Erin. I guess I wouldn’t use this to blog until transcription quality is resolved.
