In reading Michael E. Gerber’s renowned (MUST-read) The E-Myth Revisited, I came across this statement (p. 139):

I believe it’s true that the difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next.

The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing.

The difference between the two is living intentionally and living by accident.

Then he quotes Don Juan in Castaneda’s A Separate Peace:

The difference between a warrior and an ordinary man is that a warrior sees everything as a challenge, while an ordinary man sees everything as either a blessing or a curse.

In reading this, I realized I’ve been coasting on auto pilot, like I’m waiting to see what happens next or for something to happen, as opposed to living fully and intentionally.

Now that Katya is in daycare a day or two a week, I can concentrate on my business a little more. My mission for the next few weeks is to reconnect with my purpose and continue designing the business and life I want. This means picking projects back up that I’ve ‘put on the back burner’ and giving up bad habits (time wasters and distractions) I picked up during maternity leave (like TV and PC games!).

This actually gives me an idea… so stay tuned for details.

I love that quote – it speaks right along the lines of Law of Attraction and being a deliberate creator.

I have seen entrepreneurs get stuck and really frustrated waiting for their business purpose to come to them – for it to somehow be revealed to them.

The beautiful part of this life is – we get to choose! You can create anything you want – it’s up to you – you are in the drivers seat.

You simply need to choose what to do, make your plan and take inspired action.

This is how you grow and evolve. As you learn and experience new things, you get to choose where to go next!

But – you must choose. And then, you must take the action.

I´m going through the same thing right now after having two children back to back! I like that quote. It sums up perfectly where I´m trying to get to with my life at the moment.

This is a fabulous post. When one is not living intentionally and on purpose, then the question I always ask is, “Whose life are you living?”

    Thanks for the reminder.

If you haven’t read Getting Things Done by David Allen, you’re cheating yourself.
