I’m stealing today’s Anti-Procrastination Month suggestion from Lifehacker: Map your time.

While I love planning, this is something I’ve had trouble sticking to. One day I’ll be all gung ho and map out my weeks for a month. Come Monday I’m all motivated and start off right. But things come up and I get distracted. Within a few weeks, the plan has gone out the window.

My personality (Enneagram type 6) is such that I rebel against and challenge authority (even if it’s a self-imposed authority — rules). It’s this constant internal struggle. I conscientiously avoid identifying with my weak points or using my personality as an excuse, but it remains a challenge for me all the same.

Friday’s are usually my day off “work” (in theory), since both kids are home. But I commit to sitting down today and creating a flexible (and fun) schedule that gives me enough wiggle room (for when I’m in my anti-authoritarian I’ll-do-what-I-want-when-I-want mode) but structured enough so I’m productive.

What does your productivity map look like? What helps you stick to it?
