Taking action, no matter how small is much better than waiting around for the perfect situation to present itself.

There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still.Franklin D. Roosevelt

I find comfort in these words as I contemplate slowing down (yet again) to care for a newborn. The Achiever in me makes it hard to be balanced in this area. During the next few months, I need to keep in mind that taking small steps represents forward movement.

Wow! Again, I find it interesting how you are going through the same thing I am going, even though we are at completely different stages of our lives. In my case, my only child is beginning her last year of high school next month. That means that “empty nest” for me starts at 42 years of age.

I realized that all my earlier attempts at getting things done were not working so I decided to make my daily action list about small accomplishments. And you know what? It is working.

I want to make sure I have plenty of hobbies and Work at Home tasks to feel my day once she is gone. I hope to start my own company soon and I am going back to school. These are things that I am also taking slow because the money is not as important as doing things right and learning from the experience.

And by the way, a baby teaches you that you do get the greatest triumphs from the smallest things, but you also learn not to sweat the small stuff.
